This includes existing standards, such as the Carpet and Rug Institute’s CRI’s 104, 105 and 2011. The S600 Standard and Reference Guide covers both Residential and Commercial Carpet Installations. This industry consensus document gives specific guidance for the proper, recommended procedures for installing various carpet products in different types of installations. It provides installers, retailers, specification writers, and building owners with principles and workmanship standards for installation, in addition to a detailed outline of proper procedures and terminology used in commercial specification writing, planning, layout and installation. These installation standards also includes guidelines for floor preparation and installation in special areas, diagrams, and charts.
ANSI/IICRC S600 installation standard begins with areas of responsibility for all parties of the carpet value chain including: manufacturers, distributors, specifiers, retailers, architects, designers, installers and consumers or end-users. It continues with discussions about carpet components, carpet cushion and installation equipment, tools and materials.
